What are the benefits of taking tyrosine supplements?

Tyrosine (Tyr) is not an essential amino acid (AA). Your body can make all the Tyr it needs from phenylalanine (Phe), which IS an essential AA. Any exogenous Tyr (i.e., Tyr you take instead of make) simply lowers your requirement for Phe. Any excess Phe is then wasted by the body or burned as fuel. Do NOT listen to the high school dropout who works the counter at your local vitamin store.
