A member asked:

Is it possible for over pronation to lead to supination or can you have both?

Pronation and : Supination are motions a foot undergoes when walking. Simply put, pronation is the flattening of the foot which provides shock absorption and adaptation to irregular surfaces. Supination is the opposite, where the arch raises, the foot becomes more rigid for better propulsion. Feet that overpronate have a hard time resupinating, making propulsion more difficult and tiring to foot and leg muscles.

Yes not both: Pronation and supination are opposite motions that occur at the sub talor joint. Pronation allows the foot to adapt to uneven surfaces. Supination is necessary for ridgid toe off.
