Hernia Surgery: Most abdominal hernias in adults are currently repaired with mesh. This can be done via the traditional approach or from the "inside-out" via laparoscopy. Surgical options are dependent on the location, size & origin of the hernia, the health and surgical history of the patient, & the experience & training of the surgeon. If a hernia is small & not causing symptoms, observation may be an option.

Abdominal Hernia: Abdominal hernias are repaired surgically, either with a laparoscope or via an open incision. Usually these hernias are repaired with some type of prosthetic mesh, with or without sutures or a tacking device. The hernia recurrence rate in the hands of an experienced hernia surgeon is quite low.
