CT Chest &/or biopsy: In patients with suspected pulmonary fibrosis, initial work-up includes ct chest. Blood work may also be obtained to look for potential causes of pulmonary fibrosis. Some cases can be diagnosed solely based on these test, while other require lung biopsy.

High res CT: An imaging study called high resolution ct is usually diagnostic for pulmonary fibrosis. Sometimes a lung biopsy is needed as well which is usually done by a procedure known as thoracoscopy under general anesthesia.
