Clipped or coiled: Referring to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, these are treated either surgically with a clip or endovascularly with coils. The size of the mouth of the aneurysm dictates the type of procedure. Very wide mouthed aneurysms are typically approached surgically, narrow mouth aneurysms, endovascularly. Traumatic sah is treated medically, there may be surgical intervention for other brain injury.

Surgical: If a ruptured aneurysm or arteriovasc malformation is the culprit, surgery may be critical. If we cannot localize the source of bleeding, supportive care in intensive care unit is important.
