A member asked:

What does cmv mean on my blood donar card?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cytomegalovirus: The presence of cytomegalovirus antibodies in your blood is a simple marker that you were infected at some time in your life. It means almost nothing for your health (half or more of us are +)but means something to the blood bank.Premature infants & those with immune issues (transplant, chemo) are only given CMV negative blood.
