Extremely variable: Most melanoma is detected early - these tumors typically are cured with relatively minor surgery alone. However, a smaller numbers of melanomas can have extremely rapid growth.

Depends: Most melanomas are fairly slow growing, but if they metastasize or spread they can seem to "accelerate" and grow quite quickly. It is rare for a primary site melanoma to grow quickly, although I have seen it a few times.
