Blood test and US: Depends on the goals. If conception is the goal, ovulation induction and insulin-regulating medications are useful. High androgens can be controlled with medications. Treating pcos is an art - best to seek expert advice on this. A specialist in reproductive endocrinology and infertility would be a good choice.

OCP's: Ocp's are generally the first line in treatment of pco's, unless conception is desired - then fertility drugs to induce ovulation would be employed.

Nutritional Rx: Pcos is caused by high estrogen (e2)combined with high Insulin which then transforms e2 into testosterone. Excess carbs can elevate both Insulin (via stimulation of pancreas) and e2 (via competitive inhibition of glucoronidase enzyme) a low carb diet reduces both Insulin & e2 thus positively impacting this metabolic disease. Avoid fried foods, veg oils, soy, sugar, hfcs, excess carbs.
