Avoid stimulants: Caffeine and sugar should be avoided at all costs. In theory, a low glycemic load diet would be the best because it would protect against rises in blood sugar which would tend to be a muscle stimulant, as would caffeine, and many believe that muscle contraction is an issue in many migraine patterns, as is red wine, which contains sulfites, which can be a trigger for headaches in many.
