Im on tecta for 4 months and my dr told me to keep taking as i have awful heartburn. pamphlet says take 8 weeks max. is this safe to take forever?

NO: Most of the proton pump inhibitors should be taken for the period time recommended, and not indefinitely. Chronic acid suppression can affect your ability to digest and they are associated with vitamin and mineral depletion. Heartburn is usually caused by acid refluxing from the stomach back into the esophagus. Maybe trying an antireflux drug would help.
