I'm nervous about a future with my boyfriend who has an anxiety disorder. will he hurt me?

Probably not.: The chances of him hurting you due to his anxiety disorder are very slim, as the incidence of violence among persons with anxiety disorders is basically the same as other populations. However, if his anxiety disorder goes untreated and it becomes worse over time, his irritability will worsen, and he will become harder to live with. He should get help now to get a proper diagnosis and treatment.

History of violence?: I agree with dr. Laipple about no evident correlation between anxiety d/o's and violence, and just had an additional thought that might or might not be relevant. Although you didn't mention it, if your boyfriend has any history of anger management problems or violent acting out, this in conjunction with the anxiety disorder could possibly increase the risk level.
