Several ways: Holistic medicine will address your nutritional, emotional, social and spiritual needs on top of your medical needs. It will support your healing abilities as well as treating your medical diagnosis.

Use both: It makes sense to combine traditional, modern medicine with time tested holistic medicine. I believe the best approach is to use integrative medicine, the best of both.

Many more options: Basically, traditional medicine involves drugs & surgery, perhaps a bit of physical therapy. To this foundation, a holistic md might add nutrition, herbs, acupuncture, homeopathy & mind-body medicine, etc. Holistic docs treat the whole person & tend to spend much more time counseling & educating patients about diet, lifestyle, stress reduction etc. Why settle for a more limited approach?
