Psoriatic arthritis, 2swollen toes, thumb, pointer finger. taking meloxican about 2 months not much help. crp level high. dr wants me to take humira or methotrexate shouldn't i try celebrex (celecoxib) 1st?

Absolutely not!: Psoriatic arthritis is very serious and cannot be treated effectively with nsaids like celebrex (celecoxib). Nsaids (motrin, celebrex (celecoxib), meloxicam) are only band-aids that make your suffering slightly more tolerable but will not prevent you from having arthritis and permanent destruction of your joints. Methotrexate and Humira actually treat the disease effectively. Both together work best. Listen to your dr.

No: Your doctor is absolutely correct. All nsaids, including celebrex, (celecoxib) will be ineffective and will not prevent joint damage.
