See doctor&dietician: Gestational diabetes can cause a lot of problems for both the mother and the baby, so it's very important to have a good dietary plan and follow up with your doctor. A dietician can give you advice on what to eat. Get regular moderate exercise. If your blood sugars can not be kept tightly controlled with diet alone, you might need to be on Insulin during your pregnancy. http://1.usa.gov/mhusox.

Lo carb, no sugar: Gestational diabetes is the result of excessive sugar and carbohydrate intake which causes high blood sugar levels, which then make your Insulin levels rise. Plus the hormone changes in preg make prob worse. . Over time the chronically high Insulin levels lead to Insulin resistance and you will need to make higher and higher levels of insulin. A lo carb, no sugar diet is effective for many women.
