Short time: After uncomplicated cholecystectomy will have bm in 2 to 3 days.

Few days: Usually bowel function will return to normal in 3 to 5 days after surgery, if it was laparoscopic surgery. Some people can have constipation from the narcotic pain medication. Some can have diarrhea after surgery, that usually resolves over several days to a few weeks.
