A member asked:

What is the main difference between a cherry angioma and petechiae?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Color/ blanch/ bleed: Cherry angiomas are bright red and permanent lesions. They blanch with pressure since the blood is still inside the vessel and may bleed a good deal if disrupted. Petechiae are darker, fade over time, and do not blanch since the blood is outside the vessel.
