What is the most accurate type of hiv test?

Tricky question: There are multiple HIV tests out there, and the right answer depends on what it is used for, and what are the expected results. In general, the HIV elisa (antibody test) has very good sensitivity and is the screening method of choice. However, in certain circumstances it can be falsely positive, therefore the HIV western blot is very useful to confirm infection. There are multiple other tests though.
