Dentist: How about requesting it. If you are polite and ask in a respectful manner - no reason for you not to get it.

Ask: You are entitled to copies of your dental x-rays. All you need to do is request them. The dentist is allowed to charge a nominal fee for duplication. Realize that if the x-rays are older than a year, they may not be that helpful to your new dentist.
