Statins: Depends on lipid profile. Stains have varing effects on reduction of cholesterol profile. Pravastatin and Lovastatin - low side effects but weaker. Simvastatin - tend to avoid now given side effect issues. Lipitor (atorvastatin) good and now generic. Crestor brand only - good agent. Others available. Getting ldl, hdl, and triglycerides to goal is the key to preventing progression of coronary artery disease.
