Anti-coagulantion: If thrombosis occurs, the person needs to be on long term anti-coagulation, usually with warfarin. However, warfarin can not be used during pregnancy and a subcutaneously injectable Heparin preparation is used. Newer oral anticoagulants may be used in lieu of warfarin.
