Subarachnoid bleed: There are 3 protective layers covering the brain and spinal cord: the dura, the arachnoid, and the pia mater. The arachnoid membrane is the middle of these 3. When there is bleeding beneath this, it's called a "subarachnoid hemorrhage." can happen with an arteriovenous malformation bleeding, head injury, use of blood thinners, etc.
