Slow steady stretch: A charlie horse is really a localized muscle cramp. Cramps can occur from muscle fatigue, overall dehydration, or direct blunt trauma (thigh contusion/bruise). Simple slow muscle stretching is the quickest most expedient way to "self-treat" a charlie horse/cramp.
