Good Question: Saphenous vein as a conduit for lifesaving coronary bypass surgery is a proven therapy. Internal mammary conduits are superior and radial artery conduits slightly better long term than saphenous veins but not always available or suitable. The more conduit options you can give yourself in the event of a lifesaving coronary bypass the better off you are.

Venous ablation.: A venous ablation will make the treated vein unavailable for a future bypass procedure. Your treating physician would need to weigh the necessity for ablating the vein versus your future possible need for bypass surgery. Since coronary stenting and use of other veins and other arteries are possible for bypass, usually a symptomatic vein can be safely ablated.

Vein ablation: if the vein is varicose it would never be suitable for use in bypass as the wall tension is weak
