Blistery rash: Chickenpox often starts with fever, decreased appetite, and feeling droopy.Usually within 24 hours a rash appears, quickly turning into itchy clear blisters. More blisters can appear over the next few days, and blisters and sores can occur on mucus membranes like in the mouth. Luckily, this disease is almost completely preventable by vaccines, so we don't often see its serious complications anymore!

Chicken Pox: Children sometimes have a prodrome of fever, malaise, headache, lack of appetite, and mild abdominal pain for 1 to 2 days. The rash typically appears first on a child's trunk, scalp, and face and consists of small, very itchy, flat red spots, which then turn into raised fluid filled vesicles, often described as looking like a 'dewdrop' that become umbilicated and cloudy and eventually crust over.
