What technology would a doctor use to look for symptoms of fetal chickenpox?

Phsical exam/timing: Should not be a problem unless mom had chickenpox 4 days before or 4 days after giving birth/\.

Rarely evaluated: It is assumed that baby would be infected if mother is, however the virus tends to target the surface skin rather than deep tissues.Reports of random skin scarring have been noted when this occurs in mid or late pregnancy. The serum antibodies that would otherwise confirm infection will be increased by mothers infection and present in the fetus/newborn anyway.
