Orthopaedic hand dr.: A ganglion cyst of the wrist is a common disorder. This benign outgrowth from the joint can be treated with surgical excision when large and/or painful. Draining of the cyst is rarely successful and may lead to infection. If the cyst is small and/or not painful, it can be left alone. See a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and if possible a hand specialist.
