Not sure: Ms is still being studies as to it's cuases. There seems to be an environmental component, but there seems to be more evidence that it can be genetic, where some people who have the "gene" may have a greater tendency to acquire ms.

Susceptibility: We know of several hla markers which increase genetic susceptibililty to ms: the best described is hla-dr-b-1, but dr1 and dr2 are also involved. Little question that this is only a small part of the puzzle.
