As often to get well: It depends on the severity. Either albuterol or xopenex (levalbuterol) is given every one, two or four hours until you are no longer short of breath. Other meds may be necessary including steroids, antibiotics and supplemental oxygen.

Depends...: There are many different inhaled medications for COPD treatment so follow your doctor's instructions as to how often you should use your inhalers both at baseline and during an exacerbation. Your pharmacist can help answer this question for you as well. See your doctor before increasing any medication on your own to avoid harm!
