A member asked:

Is it possible to work while you have tuberculosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not initially: If you have pulmonary tuberculosis, the health department will ask you to remain at home and wear a mask when others are around. Once you start treatment, they will monitor sputum culture. When the smears (microscopic examination of sputum) turn negative, isolation is stopped except if you work in a nursing home or other designated institutions (cultures have to be negative).
