Other programs: This is very hard to accomplish all by yourself. It may help to see a psychiatrist to discuss your concerns, & rule out any conditions that could complicate this process. Substance abuse counselor & intensive outpatient programs to share support, skills, & education. Options.: I agree with dr. Pappas. I support use of 12 step programs as the backbone of a sobriety program. Programs that are not 12 step based: smart recovery (self-management & recovery training), rational recovery (w addictive voic recognition technique) & lifering (sobriety/secularity/ self-help). There are also non-12 step rehabilitation centers. You can work with an addiction medicine specialist.
