A 29-year-old member asked:
does holding in urine cause problems to the bladder?

Yes.: Holding and storing large volumes of urine is not healthy for the bladder. It can stretch the wall of the bladder, to which it responds by thickening. Over a long period of time, your bladder may not be able to contract efficiently and expel the urine. This is especially bad for men, because as they age, the prostate gland can obstruct the bladder making the contraction more important.

A 31-year-old member asked:
How much urine can the human bladder hold?

Varies; 400-600mL.: There is, of course, a wide range. You can say that the average male bladder capacity is around 400-600ml, or 13-20 fluid ounces. This would be the volume voided after holding urine to the point of severe urgency. If the patient is under anesthesia and the bladder distended with water, the bladder can usually hold even more, around 1000ml or 33 fl. Oz.

A member asked:
When my partner and I have intercourse, especially if he is on top, i leak urine. At times this can be huge amounts, do you think it could be bladder ?

From the bladder: Women sometimes leak or squirt some urine during sexual activities. A primary care doctor and an ob-gyn doctor can evaluate to see what can be done. Some women say they squirt urine during the rhythmic contractions of an orgasm; but a "huge" amount seems more unusual, so a evaluation would be helpful.

Bladders: Yes. Of course. But the urge to pee is as much a habit as the urge to pee increasing as he bladder stretches. There will be a point when you cannot hold it any longer.
