No: Hpv is human papilloma virus (there are many different strains). Some strains of hpv cause genital warts or cervical cancer. Herpes simplex type 1 and type 2 viruses cause herpes infections, which usually are sores, such as sores on the genitals or sores on the lips. Herpes sores are painful clusters of tiny blisters, and they heal up only to return some time later.
