Sharp pain in chest: Rib fractures are very painful. They cause sharp pain in the chest wall that can be pinpointed easily (not vague pain). It tends to get worse with movement, like bending, twisting and even breathing. Sometimes you can feel them grinding when you move. Treatment includes pain management and deep breathing to clear any phlegm in the lungs.

Very painful: Displaced rib fractures are usually agonizingly painful for the first week or two. Sometimes you feel clicking when you breathe. Seek attention.
