Thought stopping: It depends on how severe & how extensive the obsessive thinking, and, somewhat, on what you are obsessing about and why. The best all around technique that doesn't require specialized treatment, is called "thought stopping" and it is basically creating a clear image and mental sound of the word "stop" when you are stuck with obsessions. More serious obsessions should be evaluated by a professional.
