What is "keratoacanthoma"?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A skin cancer...: Most dermatopathologists consider keratoacanthoma a variant of squamous cell carcinoma and therefore they are usually fully excised (removed surgically). However, technically and historically the term refers to a specific skin tumor that has a high potential to spontaneously go away on its own. Not all will, so we usually don't wait to remove in the event they don't involute on their own.
