A member asked:

What are common signs of a nervous breakdown?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not a technical term: "nervous breakdown" isn't a psychiatric term for anything specific. It's slang and sometimes means feeling emotionally overwhelmed, or "flipping out" or "losing it". Others reserve the term for true psychosis, or an inability to function due to a psychiatric disorder. Since everyone defines it differently, there are no "common signs" to identify it.
