How do massages actually help?

See below: Probably the most powerful effect of massage is to decrease stress hormones associated with pain and allow greater relaxation. They can certainly help with muscle spasm and tightness although are best done in conjunction with physical therapy if there is a specific muscular or orthopedic problem. I had a massage yesterday. If massages were mandatory, there would be a lot less anger and illness.
