A member asked:

What is a sesamoid bone fracture?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sesamoid bones are: Normally a pair of small bones that lie underneath the head of the 1st metatarsal bone in the ball of your foot. Like any bone, they are subject to injury and can be broken. This can be quite painful and due to the size of the bone and location under the ball of the foot, healing is often a challenge.
