How long does it take before lidocaine takes effect?

Fast: Lidocaine is a fast acting local anesthetic. It's onset depends on where the Lidocaine is injected, and which nerves it is blocking. For numbing the skin, it is almost instantaneous. For nerve blocks, it may take up to 10 to 15 minutes.
