Yes: Epilepsy is sudden massive electrical discharge in the brain. It can manifest as myoclonic jerks, loss of consciousness, and amnesia of the events. There may be warning signs( aura) or none at all.

Loss of consciousnes: Episodic seizures can cause loss of consciousness, and attendent injuries, especially if at heights or using power equipment or driving. Seizures emerge from areas of brain which have become abnormal sites, due to many prior problems. Meds to control the seizures can work well, but, if not, repetitive seizures could cause increased brain abnormalities, including cognitive issues.
