Antifungals: If the discoloration is caused by a fungus using a topical antifungal will kill the fungus and the discoloration will disappear. It will take a while for the nail to grow out, as it does the discoloration will grow to the end of the toe and then be gone.

See podiatrist: Or dermatologist. The question is what is the discoloration from. Sometimes, it is from a fungus but not always, sometimes it can be from bacteria under the toenail or from trauma. Sometimes, it can occur from dried blood under the toenail, or from nail polish. Once, a doc determines the etiology they can offer a treatment plan.
