Diagnosis: This is a common question asked by patients. How do you know your paranasal sinuses are congested? Could it really be your nose is congested. So the answer to your question is a specific diagnosis must be made. Otc meds such as Robitussin or Mucinex (guaifenesin) my help but certainly allergy needs to be ruled out. The gold standard to prove that you have sinusitis is a cat scan.
