Toenail fungus in diabetics ?

Very hard to treat: You are going to need something much stronger than anything you might find over the counter, since that type of fungus gets in your nailbed which is rich in capillaries which in diabetics has a high sugar concentration and the fungus loves sugar to thrive. You might need to take medication by mouth and monitored frequently to get rid of it. Please consult your physician.

Diabetes nail fungus: Diabetes affects the whole body, especially the microcirculation. When circulation to feet is compromised, & especially if blood sugar isn't well controlled, fungus can infect nail bed & thrive. Topical treatments are little help. Oral antifungals work but take months & may irritate liver. A podiatrist can offer additional options. Prevention & glucose control are keys.

Very common.: This is a very common condition. It can be treated topically or with oral medication. Oral medication is generally more effective, but requires blood tests for liver function screening. A laser is sometimes effective about 50/50 but is expensive and not covered by insurance. The severity of the infection will determine the best treatment choice.
