Location.: Plantar fascitiis is a broad banded ligament that starts at the heel and runs under the foot and attaches by the bases of the toes. Metatarsalgia occurs under the metatarsal heads. Generally, platar fascitiis pain is at the heel or arch, even though the fascia does run in the same location as metarsalgia, most of the time the pain is under the met heads it is metatarsalgia.

Different location: Metatarsalgia is more of a diffuse pain across the metatarsals(ball of the foot and the top of the foot) rather than the heel and arch. Plantar fasciitis will be along the heel and arch for the most part.
