A member asked:

Is it possible for a grand mal seizure cause permanent damage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Beyond bodily injury from seizing ie. Tongue biting, falls etc. Seizures, especially repeated uncontrolled seizures, can eventually lead to significant brain damage. Seizures that go on for a very long time can also lead to reduced oxygenation and brain injury (fortunately such prolonged seizures are quite rare).
