Key is Recenly: Normal. Unconditioned muscles all if a sudden pick up a lunch bucket and go to work. You bet i would be worn out.

Too much too fast: Sounds like you are overdoing it. You need to start out slow and work you way up when working out. Be sure to streach before your workout. With a proper workout you should not be sore for 3 days.
