Mental mostly: There is the obvious physical change but for many people it is the mental aspect of coming to grips with losing a part of your body. You can still do most of the same physical activites. Most people continue to lead a normal life.

Does not: It really does not affect your life. You will be able to wear shoes, and walk. It may be more of a psychological problem.
