Not contagious: Anorexia is not a contagious illness. It has restricted eating and a relentless pursuit of thinness, often presenting in females during adolescence. Cultural attitudes about thinness may support it, but there may also be some biological vulnerability and genetic aspects predisposing people to develop it. Appreciating your entire self regardless of weight may help you "stay away from" it.
