Yes: Actually, that's when mastitis is most common. Normal skin bacteria can enter into your milk ducts from the nipple and cause mastitis.

Yes: The most common time to develop mastitis is while breast feeding. Antibiotics may be necessary. It is important to keep breast feeding or 'pumping', this will help.
