For about 7 days: Oral herpes, hsv-1, can be found on the lips, gums, roof of the mouth, or around the nose. It begins with a tingling, called a prodrome, and tiny blister like vesicles will appear on area. During the vesicular phase it is transmittable, so caution should be used when contacting other people. A few days after, the vesicles will burst and an open sore will scab, then heal in 10 days.
